Design Engineer

My Client design, manufacture and supply shelving systems for specific point of sale fixtures within the retail and display markets.

They are currently looking for a Design Engineer; someone who is a cut above, with a very good understanding within Engineering looking for the right permanent job within Design. Ideally a graduate within Engineering. Someone who has a bit of know-how who will understand things like tolerance stacking.

Working within a team of 10 in the CAD department, your role will be designing using Inventor, although the Company may change to Solid Edge at the end of the year. The main areas of design are metal work and some wooden joinery. You will report to one of two Drawing Office Team Leaders.

Primary Functions

To produce cost effective designs of sheet metal and timber products.
To manage the Project Development Schedule from Product Design Initiation issue to engineering release.
Attendance of meetings where required, with other departments and customer representatives.
To complete engineering changes and non conformances where necessary.
To evaluate designs to propose value engineering opportunities.

Secondary Functions

Site visits and surveys to be undertaken when required. These may be local or require travel to customer sites within the UK or abroad.
Product support of existing products.
Support of supplier / vendor assessment, relating to all purchased products.
Undertake additional duties as requested by the Senior Design Engineer.
Scope and Dimensions:
 
All members of Technical Services, Purchasing, Production Engineering, Project Management and Sales.
Skills, Experience and Qualifications:

Minimum HNC Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
Detailed Knowledge of 3D CAD package (Inventor preferred).
Experience within a sheet metal / fabrication environment essential.
