This is an exciting opportunity to join this world class company in a varied and challenging role as Senior Engineer.

My client is looking for that special someone with a Mechanical or Aeronautical degree (either BEng or BSC), and a Chartered Engineer who is a member of a recognised institution.

 

Key skills required:

-       Minimum 3 years post-graduate experience in a design, development or manufacturing environment, with experience of managing suppliers and subcontractors.

-       Strong mechanical understanding of high-speed rotating components and/or test rig design and manufacture

-       Knowledge of fabrication and machining processes

-       Computer literate with a good user-knowledge of 3D modeling CAD software package, ideally Solidworks

-       An effective project-manager able to balance the needs of quality, budget and timescale

JOB PURPOSE: To be responsible for ensuring that the Company’s products and services are delivered to the required engineering quality and performance in the most cost effective way

 

JOB ROLE

-       To co-ordinate and organise activities in support of the Company’s business strategy and Objectives.

-       To ensure the highest professional standards are maintained at all times.

-       To deal with customers and/or suppliers in an efficient, courteous manner at all times thereby maintaining the Company’s professional image.

-       To ensure that the engineering elements of the Company’s projects are planned, managed and implemented to achieve fitness for purpose at minimum cost.

-       To continuously research developments in the automotive and turbocharger industries to identify new technologies which will improve engineering performance as well as identifying technologies to enable costs to be reduced.

-       To ensure design procedures are utilised, based on engineering ‘best practice’ techniques, to ensure designs are optimised for cost, ease and speed of manufacture, and function.

-       To ensure an accurate and up to date library of drawings and engineering data is maintained to ensure that such information is accessible by staff to enable them to perform their duties.

-       To continuously research developments in design methods and equipment to ensure the Company is using the most appropriate design tools available.

-       To communicate on an ongoing basis with the designated customer representatives to ensure their requirements are taken into account and that any engineering information is made available to them as required, as long as the release of such information does not jeopardise the Company’s know-how or intellectual property.

-       To ensure that the Company’s products comply with any appropriate legislation, such that they are suitable for sale to external customers.

-       To ensure that the engineering department carry out the relevent product tests to validate that each product is fit for purpose and that the appropriate test reports are produced and filed for future reference.

-       To ensure that the Company has an accurate, comprehensive and up to date Bill of Material for all products.

-       Following all aspects of design and test as required for the launch of successful products, including generating test regimes as appropriate.

-       To be responsible for ensuring design projects are carried out to meet the design brief.

-       To approve design concepts as CAD layouts, sketches and written specifications so that the purpose of the initial design brief is fulfilled.

-       To ensure that records, engineering calculations and design reference data are kept and efficiently filed to ensure that the design process can be reviewed at a later date if required.

-       To specify objectives for development test to ensure that the Company’s products are delivered to the customer in such a condition that they operate reliably and safely from their first use.

-       To generate an accurate and comprehensive Bill of Material for each product.

-       To generate new ideas and evaluate concepts, both to improve existing products and develop the product range.

-       Being aware of, and introducing, new technology to improve the company’s products, production and competitive position.

-       Liaising with suppliers as required for new and existing product support.

-       Providing manufacturing support.
