Site Engineer

 

Location:          Overseas and UK site work with office based in Cambridgeshire

 

Salary indication:  £25,000 to £40,000 plus weekend overtime

 

Purpose of the Job

The Site Engineer (SE) is responsible for ensuring that equipment is assembled, configured and commissioned on site in accordance with engineering specifications. The SE will also investigate and resolve technical or operations problems, train customers how to use and maintain the equipment and assist with servicing and maintenance work when required. The SE is a first line representative for our client and must support the corporate policy at all times. The SE will spend a high proportion of time travelling and working on-site.

 

Necessary skills and qualifications
  • Previous site management experience for high value capital equipment
  • Good relevant engineering knowledge, with the ability to discuss all technical aspects of the project
  • Electrical distribution and control experience up to 500V
  • PLC programmers, ability to troubleshoot and complete minor changes to the software
  • Hydraulic and pneumatic systems
  • Must be able and willing to work well with hand tools
  • Excellent ability to communicate in English, technical, commercial and contractual matters
  • Must be able to discuss, negotiate and resolve problems
  • Highly organised, with the ability to plan, forecast and develop alternative solutions to problems
  • Ability to lead and motivate a multi-disciplined team
  • Willing to travel overseas and work in all types of industrial plant, must have UK driving license
  • Keen to share knowledge, to learn and develop new skills
  • Good general computer skills
  • Must be able to work both independently and as part of a team

 

Useful but not essential

  • Some materials handling knowledge
  • Welding experience
  • Fork lift operator’s license
  • Site safety qualifications
  • CDM experience
