We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Estimator to play a key role in securing new business and supporting the successful delivery of mechanical installation and maintenance projects.
This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially minded professional who can accurately assess project requirements, prepare competitive tenders, and work closely with clients, suppliers, and operational teams to convert opportunities into profitable contracts.
Key Responsibilities
- Review enquiries, specifications, drawings, and tender documentation
- Conduct site surveys and assess project requirements
- Prepare accurate cost estimates, quotations, and tender submissions
- Obtain and evaluate supplier and subcontractor quotations
- Identify risks, opportunities, and value engineering solutions
- Liaise with clients during the tender process and attend pre-contract meetings
- Support contract handovers to project delivery teams
- Maintain estimating records, pricing databases, and cost benchmarks
- Contribute to business development and pipeline planning activities
About You
Essential
- Proven experience in mechanical estimating within the building services or M&E sector
- Strong understanding of mechanical installations and maintenance works
- Excellent commercial awareness and cost-planning skills
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and tender documents
- Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
- A methodical and analytical approach to pricing work
- Strong negotiation and communication skills
- The ability to work independently and manage multiple tender submissions
- A proactive mindset focused on accuracy, profitability, and client satisfaction
Desirable
- Mechanical or Building Services qualification
- Experience using estimating software and Microsoft Excel
- Knowledge of procurement and contract administration
