Process Design Engineer

Process Design Engineer

Location: Peterborough

We are looking for a Process Design Engineer to join a growing engineering team delivering high-quality hygienic process solutions across the food, beverage, cosmetic, and chemical sectors.

This role offers the opportunity to work on technically engaging projects from early concept through detailed design and implementation, contributing to safe, efficient, and well-engineered manufacturing facilities. You will play a key role in shaping hygienic process systems that meet demanding industry standards while remaining practical and buildable.

What You’ll Be Working On

  • Designing hygienic process systems aligned with industry best practice and recognised hygienic design principles
  • Developing solutions for:
    • Storage, process, pressure, and mixing vessels
    • Hygienic process skids and equipment
    • Associated access platforms and layouts
  • Supporting the development of process flow diagrams (PFDs) and P&IDs
  • Selecting and specifying hygienic components such as pumps, valves, heat exchangers, instrumentation, and CIP-related equipment
  • Creating plant and pipework layouts that balance cleanability, safety, access, and operational efficiency
  • Producing and reviewing 3D models and detailed drawings using SolidWorks and AutoCAD
  • Collaborating closely with project managers, automation engineers, suppliers, and clients
  • Supporting projects through manufacture, installation, and commissioning

What You’ll Bring

We are open to engineers from a variety of backgrounds, particularly those who enjoy practical design work in regulated manufacturing environments. Experience in hygienic process engineering is important, but we value capability and mindset over rigid criteria.

You are likely to have:

  • An engineering qualification or equivalent practical experience
  • Experience designing or supporting hygienic process systems in regulated industries
  • An understanding of hygienic equipment, vessels, and pipework design
  • Confidence working with 3D CAD and engineering drawings
  • An appreciation of fabrication, installation, and real-world build constraints
  • A collaborative approach and the ability to work across multiple projects

Experience with CIP systems, GMP, PED, or ATEX environments, or site-based project support is advantageous but not essential.

Why Join

  • Work on diverse, technically interesting projects across multiple industries
  • Be part of a team that values engineering quality, practicality, and continuous improvement
  • Opportunity to influence designs from concept to completion
  • Supportive environment with exposure to multidisciplinary engineering
  • A role that offers both design depth and real-world application

If you are a process-focused engineer with an interest in hygienic design and enjoy seeing your work built and commissioned, we would welcome your application.
