SolidWorks Design Engineer
Our client is a specialist designer and manufacturer of bespoke architectural metalwork and structural steelwork. Due to continued project activity, they are looking for a SolidWorks Design Engineer to join their experienced design team.
The Role
You will be responsible for producing accurate 3D models, fabrication drawings and technical detailing for bespoke metalwork and structural steel projects.
Working closely with commercial, production and installation teams, you will help ensure designs are practical, efficient and suitable for manufacture from concept through to completion.
Key Responsibilities
- Create 3D models and technical drawings using SolidWorks
- Produce fabrication drawings, part drawings and assembly instructions
- Work with senior design and draughting staff to meet project requirements
- Apply sound design and manufacturing principles
- Participate in design reviews and help improve designs
- Assist with basic design analysis and structural considerations
- Liaise with production and site teams to ensure designs are manufacturable
- Assist with prototyping, testing and assembly where required
- Maintain accurate design documentation and revision control
About You
The successful candidate will have:
- Experience using SolidWorks, including 3D modelling, assemblies and technical drawings
- A qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Structural Engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent experience
- A good understanding of engineering principles
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to produce accurate technical documentation
- Good communication and teamwork skills
- The ability to manage priorities in a fast-paced environment
- A willingness to learn and develop within design engineering
Experience with AutoCAD, welding, sheet metal or fabrication techniques would be advantageous.
